Pump up those tyres, clip on your helmet and Pedal for The J's! The popular annual cycle ride returns to Chelmsford for its tenth year on Sunday 5th May. Pedal for The J’s caters for all abilities from professional cyclists to active families. There are three circular routes through the beautiful Essex countryside – 15 miles, 35 miles, and 50 miles so there is a route for everyone to enjoy! Pedal for The J’s is organised by The J’s Hospice charity. All proceeds raised go to The J’s Hospice. Riders registration fee only covers the event costs. We really need your support so please sign up and help us to raise money by asking your family, friends and work colleagues to sponsor you. We are a small charity and you can be confident that every £1 we receive makes a real difference to the lives of our patients. The 15 mile route takes you through Great Waltham, Pleshey village and Chignall St James. The 35 mile route also takes you through Great Waltham and Pleshey then continues through picturesque High Easter, Hatfield Broadoak, White Roding and Roxwell. The 50 mile route follows the 35 mile route with a loop through to Hatfield Heath, Matching and Hobbs Cross, rejoining the 35 mile route at Abbess End. Entry fees: Early Bird (to Jan 31st) Adult £16, Under 16’s £8, Pre-event (Feb 1st - May 1st) Adult £20, Under 16’s £10. On the day Adult £25, Under 16’s £12.
The Tour de Yorkshire Ride offers a unique mix of Tour de France delivery combined with Yorkshire hospitality and beauty resulting in a sportive dream day. This is your chance to ride many of the same roads as the pros before they do, including the pro finish line, complete with support from the waiting crowds. Choice of three routes: Short 50km, Medium 78.6km and Long 123km all starting and finishing in Leeds. Please note that the distances shown are a guide only and routes may be subject to change. Any rider taking part in the Long Route will be required to maintain an average speed of 15kph. Your ride includes: Mechanical & medical support, energy products provided at feed stations, electronic chip timing, sweep vehicle for those who cannot complete the route, results texted to you as you cross the line and a finisher's medal. The hugely popular event on Sunday 13th May, offers four options: a Cool 33 mile ride, a Classic 70-mile route, the perfect introduction to distance riding; the tougher Champion option, which covers 101 miles - ideal for mid to experienced sportive riders and, back for 2019, the Epic 124 mile route for anyone brave enough! Tonbridge Castle is the setting for the Castle Ride 100 charity cycling sportive that will see over 1,000 cyclists depart from the castle lawns. The Garden of England serves up a mixture of quiet villages and beautiful scenery as you meander along quiet lanes. Expect some tough climbs on this charity bike ride as you pedal through the challenging North Downs to raise vital funds to help sick and disabled babies and children. All include chip timing, food and water stations, full route signage, mechanical support and a medal for all finishers. This event is part of the charity’s popular RIDE100 series of one-day bike rides that take place in fantastic cycling locations across the UK. The more challenging Classic 65 mile and the Champion at 102 mile routes are ideal if you’re an experienced or regular Sportive rider. The stunning backdrop of Framlingham College and Framlingham Castle at the start of the Suffolk Sunrise 100 bike ride is a sight to behold. Set off with over 900 riders on this popular charity sportive and you will soon be exploring the country lanes of Suffolk which were just made for cycling with little traffic, superb countryside and coastal scenery. After the huge success of Ride Chartridge in 2018 – Chesham’s annual cycling sportive – the 2019 edition will take place on Sunday 19th May.The event will once again be hosted by Chartridge Primary School. There are four routes:  A Family Ride at 10 miles, The Red Run - 31 miles, The Black Run is 62 miles and the Black Run Extra at 75 miles, all in all an excellent way to enjoy the local scenery, meet new riders and raise vital funds for the school. With over 350 riders signing up in 2018, £6,000 was raised for the school and the team of parents organising the event hope to beat that total in 2019. Everyone who takes part can look forward to a clearly signed route, a well-stocked lunch stop, chip timing, event photographs and a goody-bag. At the finish there will be refreshments and entertainment for the whole family so please bring supporters. Entry fees: Family Ride (16km): £10 per family. The massively popular bike ride through the stunning Cotswolds countryside is back for 2019.  Gear up, get your friends and family together and take on the 30 or 50 mile routes. Our bike ride around the Cotswolds is a perfect family ride and fantastic for all levels of experience. With numerous places to stop in the many villages along the way, and the opportunity to buy baguettes and homemade cakes at the popular midway point Winchcombe School, this really is a great day out! The iconic Cheltenham racecourse will again host the start and finish point for this event. Your ride includes:- GPX Route download, medical & mechanical support, full route signage and marshalling and a medal for all finishers. Children must be over the age of 14 to take part in this event. Cyclists 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Entry fees: Adult £20, 16-17 year olds £20, 14-15 year olds £10. Once again the increasingly popular, tried and tested, Little Lumpy is back for 2019. Now in its 11th year, we offer you the chance to experience the charms and challenges of the proven designated routes. Setting off again from Haslemere, we take you through the prettiest parts of the Sussex and Hampshire Weald to the South Downs at South Harting where the Challenge and Epic routes branch off to take you over some testing little climbs. Little Lumpy is a ‘not-for-profit’ event, with monies raised being distributed between Haslemere Festival and an elected partner charity. As in previous years, you will be able to enjoy the warm welcome and home baked cakes at the feeding stations around the course. This is only possible due to the dedicated group of volunteers and Haslemere bakers, whose efforts seem to have become legendary, with the tempting selection probably the best to be found at any Cycling Sportive throughout the country. In addition, at the start there will be a free breakfast on offer, comprising tea / coffee plus a bacon butty or equivalent vegetarian option. At the finish, the bar will be open and a hot meal will be available at a small price. So stay and linger to enjoy the company of your new found cycling friends and share your experience of what is one of the top Sportives in the South East of England. We have three routes to choose from, Sport (3,131ft climb) at 40 miles, Challenge (4,587ft) 60 miles and the Epic (8,434ft) which is a lung-busting 100 mile route.
